The Countdown Continues

So...I now only have 32 left until I am a bonified, certified, dignified..(yeah right)...teacher!!!! It's so close that I can taste it! Student teaching has been hard. I'm not going to lie about that one. I feel that it has been well worth it though. It has had its ups and downs just like anything but I think the hardest part is going to be leaving the kids. I knew that this would happen and that I would get emotional. The kids will ask me from time to time how much longer I have and when I tell them only a few weeks and I see their little faces frown I can't help but tear up. Since I have been in the classroom consistently and gotten a real taste of teaching I know for certain that there is nothing else I would rather be doing. Please pray that I will pass my final portfolio evaluation and it will all be smooth sailing from here.

Athens

Two weekends ago Mom, Patrick and his folks, and myself all went to Athens to The Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention. We had the best time! For a bluegrass lover there is no way to describe how much fun it was. Everywhere you looked there were people in small groups pickin', people buck dancing, arts and crafts, and food. Patrick competed in the fiddle competition and did an amazing job. He didn't place but he really should have. I have two videos of him playing and I also have two videos of a good friend of ours, Sabrina, playing. Pat's dad, Rick, accompanied Sabrina on the guitar. The only complaint I have is of the second video of Patrick's. I was recording him, sitting out there just as proud as could be, when this young girl walked by me...TWICE, and an old lady asked me to scoot down. Seriously?!?!?! Could that old coot not have waited two seconds for him to finish up? So you can still hear how great he was but the video kinda stinks. Sorry Pat! Anyway, I hope you enjoy pictures and videos from our trip!

Just a Note

Well, here it is a month later and I said I was going to blog more. So much for that goal. I have been so busy with Student Teaching I havne't had much time to do anything. I just wanted to give everyone an update and let you know that the ST is going great. I'm loving it so much more than I thought I would. We are leaving this weekend to go to Athens for the Fiddler's Convention. Patrick is competing in the fiddlers competition and i am "supposed" to be singing in the band competition with the Kilgores. Let's see if I don't back out. I will update and let everyone know how it goes. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!!

This Past Month

I don't know where to start! First of all, I am so sorry that it has been so long since I have updated my blog. It's a low-down shame...lol! I do want to let all of my blogging buddies know that I have tried my best to keep up with your blogs so if you haven't seen any comments from me in a few weeks it's not because I haven't been following you it's just that I have been hurriedly reading and then moving to the next blog. This past month has been crazy. I will try to update in one paragraph, leave you with a new video, and call it a night!

All of you already know about the Bahamas trip and/or have seen pictures that Kim has posted. We did have a great time and loved the time I got to spend with my friends. My last day working for Mrs. Z at UAB was August the 7th and I hated so bad to leave. She was the best boss ever and I absolutely loved my time working there. It's hard to believe that I worked there a whole year because it FLEW by. I miss Mrs. Z already but we have stayed in touch and will continue to. I have made a great friend and mentor while working there and I appreciate everything she did and continues to do for me. I started student teaching August the 25th at Bagley in the fourth grade. It is going very well so far and I will pick up one hour of teaching next week so I am excited and nervous about that.

I think that pretty much covers everything I have done this past month other than pick up some hours at the drug store. I want to leave you with a video. I have been practicing literally everyday on the guitar. I love getting together with the Kilgore's and playing and I thought that y'all might enjoy a taste of what we do. This song is called "Take Me Back" by Daily and Vincent. Excellent band and I highly recommend them to any bluegrass fan! Hope you enjoy and hopefully I will be able to comment like a good little blogger and post again more frequently. Hope everyone has a great week!
