My morning......
This all happened on Friday morning, February the 5th. I was subbing for a third grade teacher and was looking very forward to it. I get to the third grade classroom that morning and I was looking over the schedule for the day. I saw that the first thing that they were to do was to come in class, unpack, and go use the restroom. So being the conscientious person that I am, I make them go by tables so as to not bombard the bathroom. While I am watching the other students, I hear screaming and hollering from the bathroom and one kid running up to me going, "BRADLEY'S NOSE IS BLEEDING!!!!!!" I am like oh no, a nose bleed. WRONG!!!! I go into the bathroom, push through the CROWD of boys, and see Bradley, bless his sweet little heart, holding his nose and blood absolutely pouring from this face. It was not a stream, mind you...it was a river!!!! So I grab paper towels and hold them to his face and he is screaming, "It hurts, I can't breath, make it stop, it hurts, I'm bleeding, ouch, oh no, I can't breath". During this time of pain and suffering, my mind flashes to the grape lady...OH NO, STOP, I CAN'T BREATH! (It is at this time that I would like for you to pause and click on the link to the "grape lady" so you will know exactly what I am referring to.) So I quickly flash back and about that time he does one big cough...... "A-CSDAJFDKLJGFADLGHJFADGA" and blood is then flung on my sleeve! Do you know me at all????? I automatically start gagging! SO now we have a bleeding child and a gagging teacher. Another teacher is coming into the bathroom as I am walking out and I say that I am taking him to the nurse and in a pitiful voice I say, "but i don't know what to do with the rest of them?!?!" She comforts me and tells me to go on and I know she is thinking that she hopes i don't throw up and as I am trying to make it down the hall with crying child and drippy blood soaked paper towel IN MY HAND (just as a side note, it was running off my hand into the floor, are you getting how bad we are talking here?) i turn the corner to see the principal. I immediately say, "he's bleeding!" which at that moment was the dumbest thing i could have said because after the picture I have painted that was pretty obvious. He says for the little boy to come with him in the bathroom. I am already freaking out so i just follow....WHY?!?!?!? I wash my hand off in the sink and he is holding the boy now and tells me, "Ms. Whitfield.....I think I got it now." I shockingly say..."Oh yeah...right...my bad!" I walk back to the classroom, tell the kids not to say a word, to get their morning work done, and I sit and go WOW....it's only 7:55! Good morning to you!
